Plateau State University (PLASU), Bokkos, has concluded a two-day employability skills workshop aimed at preparing final-year students for the job market.
The training, which ended on Tuesday, April 21, was organized by the University’s Career Service Centre in partnership with the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and Innovations Operation Technology Unified. The workshop attracted participants from across various faculties for intensive capacity-building sessions.
The programme focused on key areas including career readiness, financial literacy, and professional networking. Students were trained on professional CV writing, personal branding, personal finance management, and strategies for building effective professional networks.
Representing the Vice Chancellor, Professor Shadrach Best, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Associate Professor Keziah Ayuba Yiltohom, expressed appreciation to TETFund and Innovations Operation Technology Unified for their support. She urged students to maximize the opportunity by applying the knowledge gained to meet the demands of the evolving labour market.
According to the Director of the Career Service Centre, Professor Jurji Nengak Gomos, the workshop was designed to introduce students to the Centre’s vision while equipping them with tools to make informed career decisions.
“We want our graduates to be competitive, not just certified,” he said.
Also speaking, John Agaldo, who represented Innovations Operation Technology Unified, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to providing relevant and up-to-date training that would enable Nigerian graduates to compete globally.
In his closing remarks, the Registrar, Yakubu Ayuba, commended TETFund for its continued support toward institutional growth and student development.
The Career Service Centre of PLASU offers career counselling, skills training, and employer linkages aimed at preparing students for both employment and entrepreneurship.
