INEC Opens 2027 Preliminary Voter Register Online

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has made the preliminary register of voters for the 2027 general election available online following public concerns over access to the register.

The commission announced the decision in a press statement issued on Monday, October 26, 2026, by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee (IVEC).

According to INEC, the online publication will allow Nigerians to access the same preliminary register previously displayed physically at registration areas nationwide between October 9 and 15, 2026.

The physical display was conducted in accordance with Section 19 of the Electoral Act, 2026, to enable registered voters to inspect their personal details and submit claims or objections as provided by law.

INEC said it had taken note of concerns raised by Nigerians and other stakeholders regarding the need to make the register accessible online in addition to the physical display.

The commission subsequently decided to publish the register on its official online platform to widen public access and strengthen transparency and confidence in the electoral process.

Registered voters can access the preliminary register through INEC’s online portal: https://display.inecnigeria.org.

The commission explained that the online publication complements the physical exercise already completed and does not replace the ongoing processing of claims and objections submitted during the display period.

INEC said it would continue processing the submissions in preparation for the certification and publication of the final register of voters scheduled for December 15, 2026.

The commission reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability and the implementation of the Electoral Act, 2026, as it prepares for the 2027 general election.

It also appreciated Nigerians and electoral stakeholders for their continued interest and constructive engagement with the electoral process.
