The Senate of Plateau State University (PLASU), Bokkos, has approved January 30 and 31, 2026, as the new dates for the university’s 8th and 9th combined convocation ceremony.
The decision was taken during a special Senate session held on Thursday, October 24, 2025, where members ratified the management’s proposal to shift the ceremony from its earlier scheduled dates of November 28 and 29, 2025. The adjustment followed discussions at the university’s 97th regular Senate meeting on October 13, 2025.

According to the revised plan, the pre-convocation lecture will hold on January 30, 2026, while the convocation ceremony will follow on January 31, 2026.
During the same session, the Senate also reviewed the implementation of the 2025/2026 academic calendar, which had earlier been approved. The calendar stipulates that:
The First Semester officially began on Monday, September 29, 2025, with online registration for new students commencing the same day.

Returning students began their online registration on Monday, October 6, 2025.
Normal registration for all students was slated to end on Monday, October 13, 2025, with lectures starting immediately after.
Admission processes for new students will be completed by Monday, November 3, 2025, followed by orientation from November 4 to 6, 2025, and matriculation on Friday, November 7, 2025.
However, due to unforeseen disruptions, including the recent ASUU warning strike, the Senate has approved Monday, October 27, 2025, as the date for the full commencement of lectures.
Speaking during the meeting, Senate Chairman and Vice Chancellor, Professor Shedrack Best, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Professor Moses Galadima, called on faculty members to ensure full compliance with the new academic schedule.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to upholding academic integrity and directed all departments to complete and upload pending results for students in levels 200 to 400 within two weeks. This directive aligns with the National Universities Commission (NUC) requirement for timely result processing and transcript management.
Professor Best emphasized that the prompt upload of results is crucial ahead of the NUC accreditation visit scheduled for November 2, 2025, which will assess the university’s adherence to the commission’s revised academic and digital compliance standards.
With the Senate’s approval, the university community now anticipates a smooth academic flow leading up to the convocation, which will celebrate the achievements of two graduating sets.
