INEC Says 1.9m PVCs Collected Ahead of Osun Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says 1,906,390 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) have been collected ahead of Saturday’s 15th August Osun State governorship election.

The figure represents 81.50 per cent of the 2,339,233 registered voters in the state, according to a statement issued by INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, on Thursday 13th August 2026.

INEC said 432,843 PVCs, representing 18.50 per cent of registered voters, remained uncollected and had been deposited with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in line with the Commission’s established procedure.

The Commission also disclosed that 6,101 voters who applied to replace damaged, defaced or lost PVCs printed downloadable copies of their voter cards.

INEC said the detailed breakdown of collected PVCs, polling unit by polling unit, had been published on its official website.

The electoral body assured political parties, civil society organisations, the media and voters across Osun State of its readiness to conduct what it described as a free, fair, credible, transparent and inclusive election.

The Osun governorship election is scheduled to hold on Saturday, August 15, 2026, with voters across the state expected to elect the next governor.
