As the celebration of Nigeria’s 65th independence day hits the “Nooks and crannies” of the country, troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/ Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), a code-named
OPERATION LAFIYA NAKOWA added to the wings of the mood.
The sustained operations of the code-named OPERATION LAFIYA NAKOWA, across Taraba State aimed at flushing out terrorists and criminal elements within the state, troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/ Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have successfully foiled a terrorist attack and neutralized two terrorists in the region recently.
The success story was contained in a statement issued by Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade, Nigeria Army, on 1 October 2025.
“Acting on credible intelligence, troops on 1 October 2025 advanced to Tor Ikyeghgba village where bandits were reported to be converging. On arrival at the general area, the troops made contact with the terrorists along the Powerline axis. They immediately engaged them with superior firepower, resulting in the neutralization of two terrorists.”
Illegal items recovered from the criminals during the operation include,
1 locally fabricated pistol
2 Dane guns
3 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition
1 Baofeng radio
1 motorcycle and other items.
While commending the troops for their swift response, resilience, and professionalism, the Commander 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, urged the troops to maintain the momentum and assured residents of Taraba State that the Brigade remains fully committed to ensuring peace, safety, and security within the state.
He therefore called on the public to continue supporting ongoing operations by providing timely and credible information that will aid in the fight against criminality.
