The Plateau State Government has donated a patrol vehicle to the University of Jos to strengthen campus security operations.

The Ford Hilux pickup truck was presented at the Government House in Rayfield Jos the Plateau State Capital, on behalf of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet and Special Services, Wycliff Biwet.

Biwet, who represented the Secretary to the State Government, Samuel Jatau, said the donation was aimed at helping the university tackle security challenges within and around its campuses.

“This vehicle was specially assigned to the University of Jos by Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang to help the university address security challenges within the university and its environment,” he said.

He added that the state government would continue partnering with the institution to ensure the protection of lives and property within the university community.

The Chief Transport Officer in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the State, Alexander Bitson, said the vehicle would support the university’s security department in carrying out patrol operations.

Responding, the Acting Director of Physical Facilities at the university, Pam Bot, described the donation as timely, noting that it would improve security across the institution’s campuses and staff quarters in Jos.

He also appreciated the Plateau State Government for previous interventions, including support during the Nigerian University Games Association hosting and infrastructure renovations within the university.
