Students of the Department of Mass Communication, Plateau State University (PLASU), Bokkos, held a candlelight in honour of two of their colleagues, Miss Rejoice Izang and FwanNan Daniel, who passed away during the last academic session.
The solemn gathering, characterised by prayers, candle lighting, and moments of silence, drew students and union leaders who came together to mourn the departed students and celebrate their lives.
Addressing the gathering, the Departmental President, Nicholas Mansing Jinan, expressed heartfelt sorrow over the tragic loss, describing it as a great loss to the department and the university community at large. He prayed for the repose of their souls, asking God Almighty to grant them eternal rest.
“We have lost dear members of our academic family. Though the pain is heavy, we commit their souls into the hands of God and pray that they rest in perfect peace,” he said.
Also present was the former Departmental President, Ezekiel Njepshwal, who paid glowing tributes to the late students, describing them as hardworking, jovial, and friendly individuals who related well with others. He urged students to live purposeful lives, maintain peaceful relationships, and always put God first in all they do.
former social science students Association (SOSSA)President, Mashat Palang Paul, in his tribute to Miss Rejoice Izang, described her as a peaceful and cheerful coursemate. He noted that her death came as a painful shock and encouraged students to continue living in unity, peace, and prayerfulness.
It ended with collective prayers for the repose of the souls of the deceased and words of encouragement to students to remain united, supportive, and compassionate toward one another during moments of grief.
