The Department of Mass Communication at Plateau State University (PLASU), Bokkos, has organized an engaging orientation programme for newly admitted students, equipping them with vital knowledge for academic success.
The event, held at Lecture Theatre Complex (LTC B) at 11 a.m., brought together university officials, faculty members, and support staff committed to guiding students through their academic journey.
The orientation aimed to familiarize students with the university’s academic structure, policies, and expectations, ensuring a smooth transition into campus life. Among the key speakers were the Head of Department, Associate Professor Adeyanju Micheal Apejoye; the Students’ Adviser, Dr. Abigail Peret Bentu; and the Department’s Examination Officer, Dr. Lohnan Moses.
In her address, Dr. Abigail Peret Bentu the student adviser encouraged students to remain diligent and dedicated in their studies, stressing that their success would bring pride to their families and the institution.
Also speaking, Associate Professor Adeyanju Micheal Apejoye emphasized the importance of discipline and integrity, cautioning students against examination malpractice. He noted that graduates of the department must be known for both character and academic excellence.
The Examination Officer, Dr. Lohnan Moses, provided practical guidance on academic performance, explaining how students can track and calculate their Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA), while urging them to strive for outstanding results.
Reacting after the programme, one of the newly admitted students, Dorathy, described the orientation as insightful and impactful, noting that it provided clarity on how to successfully navigate university life.
The programme ended on a positive note, leaving students inspired and better prepared to maximize their academic experience at Plateau State University, Bokkos.
