Residents of Gako village in Rim community, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, Nigeria, reported that four members of a Christian family were killed late on April 26, 2026, when armed men attacked their home.
Local sources identified the victims as Rev. Ayuba Choji, a pastor with the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), his wife, Mrs. Chundung Ayuba, their son Cyril Ayuba, and an infant child, Endurance Ayuba.
According to a community member who spoke on condition of anonymity for security reasons, the attack occurred at approximately 10:46 p.m. The assailants reportedly entered the village under the cover of darkness and targeted the residence of the pastor. The victims were said to have been killed inside the family home, though details of how the killings were carried out remain unclear at the time of reporting.
Nigerian security agencies had released no official statement as of press time. It is also unclear whether police or military personnel were alerted during or immediately after the нападение, or if any arrests have been made.
Gako village is located within Riyom LGA, an area that has experienced repeated violent incidents in recent years. Community members say nearby rural settlements are often vulnerable due to limited security presence and delayed emergency response.
Witness accounts remain limited. While residents confirmed hearing gunfire during the night, no detailed eyewitness testimony describing the attackers, their number, or their movement has yet been publicly documented. It is also not known whether any photographic or video evidence was captured at the scene.
The exact coordinates of the attack site, as well as the proximity of security installations or neighboring settlements, have not been independently verified. Local sources indicate that several Fulani settlements exist within driving distance of the Rim community, but no confirmation has been made regarding the origin or escape route of the attackers.
Rev. Choji was described by community members as a local church leader, though it is not yet clear whether he had received prior threats or was specifically targeted.
This incident marks another reported killing in Plateau State, where rural communities have faced recurring violence. Further details are expected as investigations proceed.
