At least 27 people have been killed in a series of attacks across Plateau State between Sept. 13 and Sept. 20, with a pastor among the latest victims.

Pastor Samuel Nandi was killed on Sunday morning of September 20th 2026 while travelling to church in Maraban Kantoma, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, according to residents.

A traditional ruler in Dorowa Babuje, Da Sambo Chollom, said the pastor, who was originally from Borno State, was attacked on his way to a church service.

“His son was shot and is currently hospitalized,” Chollom said, adding that continued gunfire in the area had forced some residents to flee their villages.

Another person was reportedly killed in Ratyidi, Fan District, while residents said heavy gunfire was heard around Dorowa Babuje and surrounding communities.

The latest incidents are part of a wider wave of violence that has affected several communities in Barkin Ladi, Mangu, Riyom, Bokkos and Jos South local government areas.

At least nine people were killed earlier in an attack on passengers disembarking from a commercial vehicle at Dungus junction in Kuru District, Jos South.

In separate attacks, two people were killed in Ta-Hoss village in Riyom and another two in Vodni village in Mangu, while five people were killed in Gana-Ropp village, Barkin Ladi, on Saturday.

At least two others were injured in an attack in Ndar village, Bokkos Local Government Area.

Earlier, three people were killed and seven others, including a seven-month-old baby, were injured in an attack at a farmers’ market in Mangu.

The attacks have heightened fear among residents, with affected communities facing continued insecurity and displacement.

The Commander of Operation Endurance Peace, Maj. Gen. Maxwell Dangana, visited some of the affected areas on Sunday and pledged to strengthen security measures to protect residents.

Residents have been advised to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary movements and follow security updates as authorities respond to the situation.
