The Osun State chapter of the Accord Party has raised the alarm over an alleged plot to steal sensitive electoral materials ahead of the state’s August 15 governorship election.
The party raised the concern in Osun State on Thursday, August 6, 2026, while calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to urgently prevent any attempt to compromise the electoral process.
According to Accord, the alleged plot could undermine the credibility of the forthcoming governorship election if not swiftly investigated and addressed by relevant authorities.
The party urged INEC to strengthen the security and monitoring of sensitive election materials and ensure they are adequately protected before, during and after the poll.
It also called on security agencies to take proactive measures to identify and stop individuals or groups allegedly planning to steal or tamper with electoral materials.
Accord stressed the need for all stakeholders to work together to safeguard the integrity of the election and prevent actions capable of undermining voters’ confidence in the process.
The alarm comes barely days before the August 15 governorship election, with political parties intensifying preparations and campaigning across the state.
The party’s call places additional pressure on INEC and security agencies to ensure adequate protection of election materials and maintain a credible and peaceful electoral process in Osun State.
