Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State Nigeria has described the submission of the High-Powered Fact-Finding Committee’s report on incessant killings and destruction in the state as a turning point in the quest for peace, justice, and lasting prosperity.
Mutfwang made this known on Wednesday 24th September 2025 when the committee submitted the reports to him in his office at the Government house little rafield Jos the Plateau State Capital.
The committee was inaugurated to investigate decades of violent attacks that have ravaged several communities across the state, leading to the loss of lives, destruction of farmlands, and displacement of residents. While receiving the report Governor Mutfwang said it represents not just a document, but the “voice of Plateau people and a clear record of the injustices endured over time.”
The governor pledged to present the findings to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and relevant security experts, assuring that the true nature of the violence would be laid bare at the highest levels of decision-making. He also promised that the recommendations of the committee would be implemented with fairness and transparency.
Mutfwang announced plans to recruit 1,000 competent youths into Operation Rainbow, the state’s community-driven security outfit, to boost intelligence gathering and provide rapid response to threats in rural communities.
“Plateau has suffered over 420 attacks and lost nearly 12,000 lives since 2001. We cannot afford business as usual. We will act with courage, guided by justice and truth,” the governor declared.
Beyond security, Mutfwang highlighted progress in other sectors, pointing to ongoing efforts in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and tourism. He disclosed that rural road construction, school reforms, expanded health insurance, agricultural revival, and renewed investor interest in tourism were part of his administration’s strides.
The governor also welcomed members of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), who visited the state to assess governance and peacebuilding efforts. He expressed gratitude to the editors for their balanced reportage during his legal battles, which he said helped shape fair perceptions about Plateau.
He emphasized that peace and prosperity remain the twin pillars of his administration, assuring Plateau citizens of his determination to restore the state’s pride as Nigeria’s “Home of Peace and Tourism.”
