The Grassroots Alliance Political Movement GAP of Bassa-Local
Government Area of Plateau State Nigeria Endorse Honourable Nuhu Yakubu Chayi as their Candidate for Irigwe/Rukuba House of Assembly Seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement event took
place at Degros in Miango on Thursday 16April 2026 Bringing together different political groups,stakeholders,women
and youths across Irigwe/Rukuba Constituency.

Speaking during the endorsement gathering, the Coordinator of GAP Movement Comrade Bitrus Abwo, said the movement was established to encourage youth participation in politics, noting that leadership in the past had largely been dominated by older generations.

He stressed that young people, particularly those between the ages of 27 and 45, now possess the education and capacity to take on leadership roles and contribute meaningfully to governance.

Bitrus explained that the group, comprising members from Irigwe and Rukuba communities, unanimously agreed to endorse Yakubu due to his track record in grassroots leadership and community development.

“We believe with this movement, the youths are ready to take responsibility. We are here today not only to endorse Mr President and our governor, but also our brother Nuhu Yakubu, who has demonstrated capacity to serve,” he said.
According to him, Yakubu’s performance as former Chairman of the Miango Youth Development Association (MYDA) earned him the confidence of the group, citing several projects executed during his tenure.

Also speaking,Mrs.Nancy Musa from Irigwe Chiefdom expressed strong support for Yakubu’s ambition to represent Rukuba/Irigwe constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly.

She described Yakubu as a tested grassroots leader whose contributions have had visible impact on the community, including the construction of boreholes and support for displaced persons through community farming initiatives.
“Nuhu has helped reduce diseases like typhoid through provision of clean water. His leadership in MYDA brought development that people can testify to,” she said.

Nancy added that The group does not support unfair zoning and imposition of leaders against the wish of the masses, emphasizing the need to elect capable leaders regardless of ethnic or sectional considerations. She called on residents across Rukuba/Irigwe constituency and other ethnic groups to support Yakubu in the forthcoming election.

In his response,Hon.Nuhu Chayi expressed gratitude for the endorsement and acknowledged the influence of Reverend Charles Truxton, whom he described as a mentor and a pillar of support.

“Anything you see in me that is good is because of him; any shortcomings are mine,” Yakubu said, noting that Truxton has spent decades supporting communities through humanitarian efforts, including payment of hospital bills and other forms of assistance.

Yakubu reaffirmed his commitment to peace, unity, and development, promising to deliver more dividends of democracy if elected in 2027.
