A student of the University of Jos (UNIJOS), identified as John Arum, has reportedly been kidnapped while traveling to Kaduna, sparking fear and concern among fellow students and acquaintances.
According to information gathered, the victim, described as a coursemate by peers, was abducted during the journey under circumstances that are still unclear. Disturbingly, a video believed to have been recorded with the victim’s phone surfaced shortly after the incident and was shared in a group chat, confirming the abduction.
Sources say the kidnappers are demanding a ransom of ₦30 million for his release.
At the time of filing this report, it remains uncertain whether the victim’s family members are aware of the development, as those close to him claim they have no direct contact to immediately notify his relatives.
The incident has triggered urgent calls among students and the wider community to circulate the information across multiple platforms in hopes of quickly reaching the family and relevant authorities.
Kidnapping for ransom continues to pose a serious security challenge across parts of Nigeria, particularly along major highways.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
