The African Action Congress (AAC) has directed its state chapters nationwide to begin immediate mobilisation of members for a nationwide protest scheduled for August 5, 2026, against hardship and poor governance in Nigeria.

In an internal memorandum dated August 1, 2026, and addressed to all state chairpersons, the party said the protest would be held in solidarity with the Take It Back Movement and the Nigerian people’s demand for justice, accountability, good governance and an end to worsening economic hardship across the country.

The memorandum, signed by the AAC National Secretary, Oshiokhue Philip Ikpemingohena, instructed state chairpersons to communicate the directive to every ward, local government and state structure of the party. It also encouraged members within Nigeria and in the diaspora, where solidarity actions are planned, to participate peacefully and orderly.

According to the directive, all AAC candidates for the 2027 General Elections, from governorship aspirants to House of Assembly candidates, are expected to play leading roles in mobilising supporters and coordinating participation within their respective states and constituencies.

The party further disclosed that its National Leader and 2027 presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, would lead the protest, describing the demonstration as part of the party’s commitment to justice, democracy and the liberation of Nigeria.

The AAC urged members to ensure that all activities remain peaceful, lawful and in line with Nigerians’ constitutional rights to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly, while calling on participants to maintain discipline throughout the protest.
