SWAN President, NUJ Represented As New Nigerian Editor’s Sister Is Laid To Rest

The President of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Mr. Isaiah Kemje Benjamin, as well as Representatives of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna State Council were on ground as the remains of the sister of New Nigerian Newspapers Editor, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, Ms. Rose Onyekeche Dickson were interred at her family compound in Agboke Oglewu, Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State on Wednesday April 16, 2025.

SWAN President, represented by the Assistant Secretary of its FCT Chapter, Mr. Friday Joshua led the delegation from Kaduna on Tuesday April 15 to the family residence in Otukpo GRA on a condolence visit.

Similarly, the NUJ delegation was led by the Kaduna Welfare Chairman, Amos Ebute Mathew, for same purpose.

Others on the delegation, are, Tega Nwaiwu and Kato P. Ladan.

New Nigerian’s reporter, Bashir Bello Dollars was also on ground from Abuja for the condolence visit and burial.

They were warmly received at the family residence in Otukpo by Mrs. Charity Oloxhe Odihi, the eldest sibling present.

The following day, the delegation was at the Federal University of Health Sciences Otukpo Teaching Hospital from where the remains were accompanied in a convoy of relatives, friends and sympathisers for the Internment at the family compound in Agboke Oglewu.

The delegation has since returned to Kaduna.

It would be recalled that late Ms. Rose Onyemeche Dickson, an Abuja based business woman died on March 22, 2024 at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, after a brief illness.
