African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that the Department of State Services (DSS) forged documents tendered against him in his ongoing criminal trial.
Sowore made the allegation on Wednesday July 22nd 2026,after proceedings at the Federal High Court Abuja, where he is standing trial over comments in which he allegedly described President Bola Tinubu as a “criminal.”
Addressing journalists outside the courtroom, Sowore claimed that a DSS principal officer, identified as Nwaze David, denied authoring a letter presented by the prosecution during his testimony.
According to Sowore, the witness repeatedly rejected the document after it was shown to him in court, insisting under oath that he never wrote it.
Sowore also alleged that the same witness denied ever being served with the Facebook post forming part of the prosecution’s evidence, raising concerns over the authenticity of the documents relied upon by the DSS.
He described the development as “forgery of the highest order” and argued that the prosecution should produce the actual author of the disputed letter since the witness had disowned it.
Sowore further claimed that when parts of the letter were read in court, the witness denied knowing whether President Tinubu’s supporters would be angered by the social media post and also denied being one of the President’s supporters.
He thanked his legal team, supporters and journalists for standing by him throughout the proceedings, adding that his lead counsel chose not to address the media because of his preferred litigation strategy.
Sowore maintained that despite spending nearly a year defending himself in court, he remained resolute, insisting the trial would not deter his campaign for national change.
The DSS charged Sowore over comments in which he allegedly referred to President Bola Tinubu as a criminal. The case continues before the Federal High Court.
