Sarah Bali calls For Women In Leadership On 65th Nigeria Independence

By Faith Chondol

The former Transition Chairperson of Bassa Local Government, Hon. Mrs. Sarah Bali has joined millions of Nigerians in commemorating the nation’s 65th Independence Anniversary, expressing appreciation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bold reforms and visionary leadership.

In her goodwill message, Hon.Mrs Bali highlighted the significance of President Tinubu’s Independence Day broadcast, noting his reaffirmation that “the accurate measure of our success will not be limited to economic statistics alone, but rather in the food on our families’ tables, the quality of education our children receive, the electricity in our homes, and the security in our communities.”

She stressed that such focus on people-centered governance must extend to the grassroots, particularly through the enforcement of local government autonomy, which the President also acknowledged as already yielding greater development.

Hon.Mrs Bali praised the President’s courage in choosing the path of reform over “business as usual,” quoting his words that “we chose the path of tomorrow over the comfort of today.” She said this reflects the kind of determination needed to rebuild Nigeria from the bottom up, with local councils fully empowered to deliver on education, healthcare, agriculture, and security.

Looking towards Plateau State, she pointed to the leadership of Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda and the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a beacon of hope, assuring that with unity of purpose, the state’s “lost glory” can be restored by 2027. She urged citizens to rally behind APC’s Renewed Hope agenda in Plateau, aligning with the President’s call for productivity, innovation, and enterprise across all tiers of government.

Importantly, Hon.Mrs Bali underscored the need to mobilize experienced women into political positions, saying their inclusion is vital for consolidating democracy and ensuring diverse representation. “As President Tinubu has given wings to our youth through initiatives like student loans and YouthCred, we must also give women the platform to lead, legislate, and deliver change at the grassroots,” she added.

She concluded with a prayer for Nigeria, Plateau State, and Bassa LGA: “May God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. May God also bless Plateau State and Bassa Local Government Area as we strive together for a brighter, stronger future.
