The peaceful Christian farming village of Maikatako, located 71 kilometers from Jos in Plateau State, has experienced a profound sense of loss and solidarity following a recent attack by suspected Fulani extremists on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. This tragic incident, which took place at the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) Regional Church Council in Bokkos Local Government Area, resulted in the loss of one life, leaving the community united in their mourning and resolve for change.
The attack occurred around 7:00 PM when villagers had settled in for the evening. Unlike previous events that were often heralded by warnings, this sudden act of violence has underscored the pressing need for enhanced security measures in vulnerable rural areas.
