Concerned Youths from Miango in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State have urged Governor Caleb Mutfwang to fulfil his promise to restore electricity to the community.
The youths made the appeal during a press conference at the Plateau State NUJ Secretariat in Jos the Plateau State Capital on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, as Miango marks 11 years without public electricity supply.
They recalled that Governor Mutfwang had promised to restore electricity to Miango during the 2026 Otu Irigwe Cultural Festival, renewing their call for the state government to act on the commitment.
The group also called for an investigation into the financial activities of the Miango Community Energy Project Enterprise, including how funds reportedly collected from residents were utilised.
They urged relevant anti-graft agencies, including the EFCC and ICPC, to investigate any evidence of financial wrongdoing and called for appropriate action where necessary.
The youths said they would continue to pursue the matter peacefully and lawfully, announcing plans for a peaceful protest to draw wider attention to the prolonged blackout.
They appealed to the media, government and relevant stakeholders to support their demand for accountability and the restoration of electricity to Miango.
