Osun 2026: Davido Threatens International Attention If Election Goes Wrong

By Palang Paul

Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has warned that he would seek international attention if anything goes wrong during the Osun State governorship election.

Davido made the remark during a live session with comedian Carter Efe, where he stressed the need for a free, fair and credible electoral process.

The singer said he would involve United States President Donald Trump if he believed the August 15 election was compromised, adding that he would not remain silent over alleged irregularities.

The comments come as Davido actively campaigns for his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking re-election for a second term in office.

Davido has repeatedly called on relevant authorities to ensure that the election is conducted transparently and in accordance with democratic standards.

Meanwhile, Governor Adeleke has instituted a ₦2 billion suit against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over restrictions placed on Osun State’s Federal Statutory Allocation Account.

The suit, filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja, challenges the legality of a Post-No-Debit directive reportedly issued by the EFCC to First Bank Nigeria Limited.

The Attorney-General of Osun State and the state’s Accountant-General are listed as the second and third plaintiffs respectively, while the EFCC, its chairman and First Bank are named as defendants.

The development comes barely days before the August 15 governorship election, in which Adeleke is seeking another term.
