One Plateau, One Voice has passed a vote of confidence in the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force and Operation Rainbow, commending the agencies for their efforts to address insecurity in Plateau State, Nigeria’s Middle Belt.
The group, in a press release dated October 15, 2026, praised the agencies for what it described as renewed commitment, professionalism and encouraging results in efforts to protect lives and property and restore public confidence.
Signed by its convener, Dogo Nanzing, the statement called on residents, community leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups and civil society organisations to strengthen cooperation with security agencies.
The group stressed that tackling insecurity requires collective responsibility, noting that lasting peace is essential to economic growth, educational development, business activities and the revival of tourism in Plateau State.
Group outlines steps residents should take
One Plateau, One Voice urged residents to provide credible and timely information that could assist security agencies in identifying and apprehending suspected criminals.
It also encouraged the public to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities through appropriate channels, avoid circulating unverified information and refrain from actions that could undermine ongoing security operations.
However, the group cautioned that public cooperation must remain lawful and responsible, warning against vigilantism, profiling and taking the law into one’s hands.
It further urged Plateau residents to rise above ethnic, religious, political and communal differences, stressing that no community could achieve lasting peace in isolation.
According to the statement, security operations are more likely to succeed when communities and security personnel work together towards a common objective.
Calls for rights-respecting security operations
While expressing confidence in the three security agencies, the group urged their leadership and personnel to sustain their efforts, strengthen engagement with communities and ensure that operations remain intelligence-driven and impartial.
It also emphasised the importance of respecting human rights and protecting all law-abiding residents, regardless of their ethnic, religious or political affiliations.
The statement expressed optimism that sustained security efforts, combined with genuine cooperation between citizens and security agencies, could help restore Plateau State’s reputation for peace, hospitality and tourism.
One Plateau, One Voice concluded with a call for unity and collective action, urging residents to work together towards a safer state.
“Let us stand together. Let us speak with one voice. Let us work together for a safer Plateau,” the statement said.
