The Nigeria Immigration Service has deployed a dedicated intervention team to the United Kingdom to clear pending passport applications and facilitate new enrolments and renewals.
The intervention, directed by Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, begins Monday, August 10, 2026, in collaboration with the Nigerian High Commission in the United Kingdom.
According to a statement by the Service Public Relations Officer, Akinsola Akinlabi, the team will move across designated cities in the UK to conduct passport enrolment and processing for Nigerians.
The exercise is designed to address the backlog of passport applications while providing services to Nigerians seeking new passports or renewal of existing travel documents.
The Service said the intervention is open to applicants with pending passport applications, new applicants, as well as Nigerians whose passports have less than one year before expiry and wish to renew them.
Applicants participating in the exercise are required to present their completed passport application forms alongside proof of payment before processing.
However, the NIS warned applicants against visiting any venue until the official schedule is released.
The statement said details of the cities to be visited, dates, venues and enrolment times would be communicated through the official channels of the Nigerian High Commission in the UK.
The Service also assured Nigerians that its digital passport application platforms, including the Contactless Passport Application System and home delivery service, would continue operating throughout the intervention.
The intervention is expected to ease the pressure created by pending applications and make passport services more accessible to Nigerians residing across the United Kingdom.
