KADUNA – Former Governor of Kano State and leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu personally reached out to him multiple times, urging him to return to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). However, Kwankwaso has firmly rejected these overtures, citing the party’s betrayal of principles and poor governance.

In a strongly worded press statement issued on Saturday, Kwankwaso expressed that he would prefer to exit politics entirely than rejoin the APC, which he accused of causing hardship for Nigerians due to its ineffective leadership and mismanagement.

“President Tinubu called me directly and made several overtures, assuring me that all conditions for my return would be met,” Kwankwaso revealed. “But I made it clear to him that I would rather leave politics altogether than return to a party that has brought untold hardship to Nigerians.”

Kwankwaso, a founding member of the APC before his departure, criticized both the Buhari and Tinubu administrations for failing to address critical national issues such as insecurity, hunger, youth unemployment, and corruption.

“The APC has lost its moral ground and historical relevance in rescuing Nigeria from its numerous challenges,” he stated.

The former presidential candidate emphasized that his political mission has never been about seeking power for its own sake but rather about service, integrity, and national transformation. He announced plans to collaborate with like-minded individuals to create a broad-based political movement aimed at unseating the APC-led government in the 2027 general elections.

“This movement will not only focus on winning elections,” he affirmed. “It will be about uprooting the politics of deception and replacing it with one of hope, vision, and action.”

Kwankwaso called on Nigerians, especially the youth, to unite beyond ethnic and religious lines to rescue the country from what he described as elite-driven propaganda and ineffective leadership.

“To President Tinubu and those urging me to return to the APC, I say thank you, but my loyalty is to Nigeria,” he concluded. “Our goal is not just to defeat the APC in 2027, but to rebuild Nigeria from the ruins caused by years of failed leadership.”

The press statement was issued through Hon. Ibrahim Rabiu, Senior Special Reporter to the Executive Governor on Transportation, and was signed by Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso himself.
