The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced the resumption of its Continuous Voter Registration exercise nationwide, marking the start of the second phase of the process.
The exercise recommenced on Monday, as confirmed by the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Adedayo Oketola.
This follows the conclusion of the initial registration phase, which ended on December 10, 2025. INEC had launched the exercise with online pre-registration on August 18, 2025, followed by physical registration at designated centres on August 25, 2025.
In a recent update, the commission revealed that 9,891,801 Nigerians began the online pre-registration process during the first phase. As of November 28, 2025, a total of 2,572,054 registrations were fully completed. This comprises 1,503,832 online registrations and 1,068,222 physical enrolments.
INEC stated that the break between phases was used to conduct mandatory statutory activities. This included the display of the provisional voters’ register for “claims and objections” at local government offices from December 15 to 21, 2025, as required by the Electoral Act 2022.
The electoral body is urging all eligible Nigerians who are yet to register to seize the opportunity of the resumed exercise to enrol, request a transfer of their voting location, or update their personal information.
The commission also encouraged those who registered in the first phase to check their details, report any inaccuracies, and raise objections concerning any ineligible or deceased persons on the register.
However, INEC noted that the CVR remains temporarily suspended in Anambra State and the Federal Capital Territory due to ongoing electoral activities. New dates for resumption in these areas will be announced later.
