The Speaker of Kaura Local Government Area and Councillor representing Kamaru Ward in Kaduna State, Rt. Hon. Hajara Stephen Musa, has strongly condemned the recent deadly attack on the Chawai–Damakasuwa community, describing it as a senseless act of violence that has left families shattered and the entire area in grief.

According to reports, the attack, which occurred earlier in the week, claimed at least six lives, including that of the Chawai Development Association (CDA) Youth Leader, Engineer. Bala Rudeh. Several others were injured, while many residents reportedly fled their homes to seek safety in neighboring communities.

Hon. Hajara expressed deep sorrow over the tragic development, noting that the repeated attacks on innocent citizens have continued to undermine peace and stability in Kaura and surrounding areas.

“The incident is heartbreaking and unacceptable. The government must intervene for the betterment of our community,” she said. “We need a stronger security presence and proactive measures to safeguard lives and property before more harm is done.”

The Kaura Speaker further appealed to security agencies to intensify surveillance and ensure that the perpetrators of the heinous act are brought to justice. She emphasized that such attacks not only destroy lives but also weaken the social and economic fabric of the affected communities.

In her message to the youth, Hon. Hajara urged calm and restraint, advising them not to take laws into their own hands.

“I urge our youth to maintain peace and order. Violence will only worsen the situation,” she cautioned.

She also called on the international community, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and humanitarian agencies to provide relief materials and psychosocial support to victims who have been displaced and traumatized by the attacks.

“We are calling on the international community to intervene and help our people. The suffering in these communities has become unbearable,” she added.

Meanwhile, residents of the Chawai–Damakasuwa area have continued to live in fear as several communities remain deserted following the attack. Many have expressed frustration over what they describe as the government’s slow response to the recurring insecurity in southern Kaduna.

As of the time of filing this report, security agencies had yet to issue an official statement or make any arrests related to the incident.
