Former ADC aspirant vows to continue race for Mangu North East seat, pledges to inspire young people’s participation in politics

Aspirant for the Plateau State House of Assembly, Mangu North East Constituency, Hon. Muhammad Sodangi Hashim, has officially resigned his membership from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and announced his intention to continue his political pursuit under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a resignation letter dated November 9, 2025, addressed to the ADC Chairman of Gindiri Ward 2 in Mangu Local Government Area,Sodangi said his decision followed “personal reflections on recent happenings” and “due consultations with key stakeholders, supporters, and political associates.”
Sodangi, who previously contested for the House of Assembly seat on the ADC platform, expressed appreciation to the party for giving him an opportunity to serve and grow politically.
“I wish to sincerely thank the ADC for the privilege and opportunity given to me,” he wrote in the letter, which was acknowledged by the Ward Chairman, Hassan Hassan.
Speaking with journalists on Wednesday, September 12, 2025, the young politician reaffirmed his determination to remain in the race for the Mangu North East House of Assembly seat. He described his defection to the APC as a step toward achieving broader political collaboration and deeper community impact.
“I am out to make a significant change to the way youths engage with politics,” Sodangi said.
“Leadership should not be about personal gain but about service, integrity, and collective progress. My defection is part of a strategic move to align with a platform where this vision can be realized.”
Sodangi, who described the All Progressives Congress (APC) as “the largest party in Africa,” confirmed that consultations were ongoing with political stakeholders ahead of his formal declaration.
“By God’s grace, I will be joining the APC to continue my movement. I wish the ADC well because it was the first party where I publicly declared my political intentions,” he added.
Political observers in Plateau State say Sodangi’s defection highlights a new wave of youthful energy within local politics, as emerging leaders seek stronger platforms to drive reform and inclusive governance.
With the 2027 general elections on the horizon, Sodangi’s move is expected to further energize young voters and reshape political dynamics in Mangu North East, where calls for transparent and responsive representation continue to grow.
