Armed men suspected to be Fulani militias on Monday 29 September 2025 beheaded a 40-year-old farmer Ishaku Abalis in Panyam District of Mangu Local Government Area, Plateau State Nigeria, and escaped with his severed head.
Confirming the incident in Jos on Tuesday, the National President of the Mwaghavul Development Association (MDA), Da Bulus Dabit, said the attack occurred while the victim was working on his farm.
Dabit lamented the recurring violence, kidnappings, and persistent attacks in Panyam and Pushit districts, calling on security agencies to intensify efforts in curbing the menace.
He revealed that the matter has been reported to the Sector Commander of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) in Mangu, who has deployed personnel to the scene of the incident.
The MDA President further called for enhanced security presence and the creation of state police, insisting that local policing is critical to complement federal security forces and protect vulnerable communities.
“The presence of security operatives will restore confidence, deter further attacks, and safeguard innocent lives from enemies of progress who do not mean well for our people,” he said.
The killing adds to the long list of violent attacks in Mangu and neighboring districts, where hundreds of lives have been lost and several communities displaced in recent years.
