Court jails two for forging certificates at Plateau varsity

The newly established Federal University of Education, Pankshin, Plateau State, has uncovered a syndicate involved in forging and issuing fake academic results and certificates, leading to the imprisonment of two men.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor of the university, Jere Ndazhaga, made this known at a press conference in Jos today, saying the two convicts, identified as Friday Tunkyes and Harvey Ringsum, were sentenced to one and a half years’ imprisonment each.

Ndazhaga reveals that the suspects were arrested after a suspicious certificate was presented at the Examinations and Records Section of the institution, prompting an investigation that led to the recovery of numerous forged certificates and official emboss stamps.

According to the VC, the incident came to light when an individual presented a suspicious certificate at the Examinations and Records Section of the University with a complaint that the result failed to be uploaded on the JAMB portal.

Due to the vigilance, professionalism, and high level of sensitivity of the staff on duty, inconsistencies were immediately observed.
