Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, will be remembered not only for his political influence but also for his deep and unwavering Christian faith—a commitment that shaped both his personal life and public work.
Kirk made a life-defining decision for Christ in the fifth grade at Christian Heritage Academy. Recalling that moment during a 2024 podcast, he said:
> “I realized the stakes in 5th grade. I’m a sinner, I’m selfish, I’m broken. And only thanks to Jesus’s perfect sacrifice—coming and living a perfect life—that I get something I do not earn but has been given to me, this free gift of eternal life.”
That early faith was further strengthened when his parents left what he described as a “liberal version” of the Presbyterian Church, which he believed had placed political and social concerns ahead of theology. “It was a great decision,” Kirk Said.
As he launched Turning Point USA after high school, Kirk faced significant challenges. Those trials, he said, brought him closer to Christ and inspired him to become more outspoken about his beliefs. “I could try to descend more into this kind of secular world or reaffirm my faith, and that’s exactly what I did,” he explained.
A pivotal moment in Kirk’s faith journey came in 2018 when he traveled to Israel for the first time. Pastor Rob McCoy, who accompanied him, described the trip as transformative.
> “His faith was so strengthened there,” McCoy said. “He would say, you know, it didn’t make the Bible come alive—it made me come alive to the Bible.”
From that point on, Kirk developed a daily rhythm of scripture reading and study. According to Pastor McCoy, “He would get up every morning faithfully, and the first thing he’d be in was the Word of God. Then he would study voraciously for two hours a day on any topic relevant to what the country was going through.”
Although Kirk’s time on Earth was brief, his impact as both a national leader and a champion of Christian values continues to resonate.
A memorial service will be held this Sunday in Glendale, Arizona, under heightened security, with tens of thousands expected to attend, including President Donald Trump.
