Troops from the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai, have dealt a significant blow to terrorist groups in Yobe State as part of the ongoing Operation Desert Sanity V.
In a statement released on Saturday, the Theatre Command’s Media Information Officer, Lt. Col. Sani Uba, detailed the successes of recent coordinated offensives. He reported that in Sector 2, military personnel, working alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force, neutralized numerous terrorists during a nighttime operation near the villages of Muktum and Ngirbuwa.
The operation led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, three motorcycles, and several mobile phones. Following the terrorists’ retreat, troops discovered drag marks and a shallow grave along their escape route, indicating that the enemy likely suffered additional casualties.
In a separate engagement in Sector 1, troops intercepted fleeing terrorists along the Bulayobe–Darel Jamel axis as they attempted to cross a main supply route. Lt. Col. Uba stated that the criminals fled in chaos, abandoning two sacks filled with various logistics items believed to be intended for other terrorist cells.
