Armed Men Kill Businessman, Kidnap Girl in Fresh Bokkos Attack

By Palang Paul

Armed assailants on Sunday night stormed Daffo District in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, killing a prominent businessman Mr. Chinedu, and abducting a young girl who lived with him.

The attackers reportedly invaded Mr. Chinedu’s residence at about 8:00 p.m. local time, shooting sporadically and causing panic among residents. He was shot in the stomach and rushed to the hospital, where he later died.

Mr. Chinedu, described as a successful businessman in Daffo, leaves behind a wife and two children. His death has further deepened the grief of a community that has endured repeated waves of violence.

Since 2018, Daffo District has suffered a series of attacks that have claimed more than 150 lives, displaced scores of families, and devastated farmlands. Residents accuse armed Fulani militias of destroying crops and forcing farmers to abandon their ancestral lands.

Community members expressed frustration over what they described as the failure of security agencies to curb the incessant attacks or bring perpetrators to justice.

“This is not the first time gunmen have entered Daffo, killing and maiming people without any form of accountability. We are living in fear every day,” one resident who plead anonymous lamented.

They called on both the federal and Plateau State governments to urgently intervene and protect lives and property in Bokkos, warning that continued neglect could worsen the humanitarian and security crisis in the area.
