President of the United States of America Donald Trump has called on United Nations member states to unite against what he described as the persecution of Christians and other threats to global peace and security.

Trump made the call on Tuesday while addressing world leaders at the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The U.S president said nations must not retreat from their responsibilities to their citizens, urging them to work collectively against what he referred to as the “enemies of humanity.”

“Christians are being persecuted all over the world,” Trump said, while condemning what he described as persecution by “the world’s most aversive regimes.”

He also linked the issue to U.S immigration policy, saying his administration would not allow what he characterised as gangs and criminals from other parts of the world to enter the United States.

Trump urged UN member states to reject fear and doubt and strengthen cooperation in addressing threats confronting their populations.

He said stronger international cooperation could help create a safer and more peaceful world while strengthening national economies and improving the future for citizens.

“We go forward and strong against the enemies of humanity,” Trump said, calling for collective efforts to build a future that is “brighter, more hopeful, and more magnificent than ever before.”

The 81st UN General Assembly general debate is taking place at the UN Headquarters in New York from September 22 to September 28, 2026.
