At least three Christians people, including two local vigilantes from the same family, were killed in separate attacks in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State Nigeria’s Middle Belt.
The first attack occurred at about 10 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, when suspected armed Fulani Ethnic Militias attackers invaded NTV Community in Ruku Village, Gashish District, according to local sources.
Two local vigilantes, identified as Poret Caleb, 22years old, and Humphrey Caleb, 15years old, were killed during the attack.
The victims were members of the same family, while Rinfwang Williams, 21, sustained gunshot injuries. Another person reportedly escaped unharmed.
The deceased were buried at the NTV graveyard on Wednesday, September 16.
An eyewitness, who requested anonymity, said suspected attackers attempted to target mourners during the funeral but were sighted by a military drone and repelled.
In a separate incident, 40-year-old Markus Yakubu was killed while returning from his farm in the hills near ASTC Kassa, Gassa/Sho Ward.
According to Yakubu’s cousin, the incident occurred at about 5 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, and his body was recovered around 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 16.
The cousin said Yakubu was attacked and killed by suspected armed Fulani Ethnic Militias attackers operating in the area.
His body was reportedly found damaged at the location where the attack occurred.
The incidents have raised fresh concerns over the security of farming communities in Barkin Ladi, particularly in areas where residents travel to and from their farms.
As of the time of filling this report neither the Plateau State Government or the Plateau State Police Command have not made any official security statement on the two incidents.
