The United Middle Belt Development Forum (UMBDF), USA, has extended its heartfelt condolences to the President of the Southern Kaduna People’s Union (SOKAPU), Engr. Samuel Kato Tabara, following the recent wave of violence affecting communities in Southern Kaduna and other parts of the Middle Belt.
In a condolence letter dated August 1st 2026 and signed by the Secretary of UMBDF USA, Mr. Diamond Longjel, the forum expressed solidarity with SOKAPU and the affected communities, acknowledging the pain, displacement, and loss suffered by residents in the wake of the attacks.
The organization stated that it shares in the grief of the victims and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting SOKAPU’s advocacy and relief efforts for communities impacted by insecurity.
According to the letter, UMBDF emphasized that stronger collaboration among relevant stakeholders is essential to effectively address the persistent security challenges confronting the Middle Belt. It further expressed its readiness to work with SOKAPU in advancing comprehensive and sustainable solutions to the crisis.
The forum also raised concern over what it described as the continued inability of both state and federal authorities to adequately protect vulnerable communities. It stressed that the protection of lives and property remains a core responsibility of government and called for urgent, effective, and sustainable security reforms.
UMBDF noted that where communities are repeatedly exposed to violent attacks without sufficient protection, it becomes imperative for authorities to adopt stronger, law-based measures that prioritize the safety and welfare of citizens.
The organization expressed confidence that a coordinated partnership with SOKAPU would significantly contribute to addressing the humanitarian and security challenges in the region. It also requested a meeting with the SOKAPU leadership to explore areas of collaboration and develop strategies aimed at achieving lasting peace and stability.
A copy of the letter was also addressed to the President of UMBDF USA, Dr. Nash Pwol.
