UNIJOS Lecturers Call Off Strike After Salary Payment, Resume Academic Activities

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) chapter at the University of Jos (UNIJOS) has suspended its strike following the payment of March 2026 salaries to its members.

The industrial action, declared earlier in the week, stemmed from delays in salary payments and unresolved issues surrounding Earned Academic Allowances (EAA).

Despite the suspension, union sources suggest that discussions with relevant authorities over unpaid allowances are still ongoing.

The payment of outstanding salaries prompted the union to call off the strike, allowing lecturers to return to classrooms and academic activities to resume.
