Two youths have been reportedly killed, and several others injured following a fresh attack by Fulani Militias on Bachi community in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State Nigeria.
The incident occurred around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, when the assailants invaded the community, shooting sporadically and causing residents to flee for safety.
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers targeted young people who were returning home, leaving two dead and others with varying degrees of injuries.
A community leader, Gankis Haggai, confirmed the attack in a statement, describing it as “sad and heartbreaking,” while calling on security agencies to intensify efforts to protect vulnerable communities in the area.
The latest assault adds to a series of deadly attacks that have plagued parts of Riyom and neighbouring local government areas in recent months.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the incident as of the time of filing this report.
