Trump Threatens to Halt Aid, Launch Military Action Over Killings of Christians in Nigeria

U.S. President Donald J. Trump has issued a stern warning to the Nigerian government, condemning the continued killing of Christians in the country and threatening severe consequences if the violence persists.

In a post on his official social media account, Trump said the United States would immediately halt all forms of aid and assistance to Nigeria should the government fail to protect Christian communities from attacks. He also suggested that the U.S. might take military action against terrorist groups operating in the country.

Trump Statement from his social media handle.

“If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities,” Trump stated.

He further directed the U.S. Department of War (believed to mean the Department of Defense) to prepare for potential action, warning that any U.S. response would be “fast, vicious, and sweet.”

“The terrorist thugs attack our cherished Christians! WARNING: The Nigerian Government better move fast!” he added.

Trump’s comments come amid growing international concern over repeated attacks targeting Christian communities in parts of Nigeria, particularly in Nigeria middle belt which include Plateau, Benue, and Kaduna States.
