Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the construction of two 300-capacity hostels for students of the Nigerian Law School, Abuja campus.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Tinubu directed FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to immediately commence the projects.

The presidency explained that the initiative is aimed at addressing the long-standing accommodation challenges faced by law school students in Abuja.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to immediately commence the construction of two hostels of 300 capacity each for the Nigerian Law School, Abuja,” the statement read.

In addition to the hostels, Tinubu also approved the construction of a road linking the Body of Benchers Secretariat in Jabi District with Nile University, a move expected to ease traffic congestion around the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) head office.

The project will be executed under emergency consideration and will include a 300-capacity male hostel and a 300-capacity female hostel.

Earlier in December 2024, Wike had flagged off the construction of an annexe office for the Body of Benchers and promised to include new hostel projects for the law school in the 2025 FCT budget. He had also facilitated the construction of stAndrew quarters, donated operational vehicles, and pledged continuous infrastructure support to the judiciary.
