The Plateau State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Chief Ephraim Usman Gar, has praised Bassa Local Government Chairman, Dr. Joshua Sunday Riti, for his outstanding performance, saying the projects executed by his administration are almost comparable to those undertaken by the state government.

Ephraim gave the commendation on Wednesday 21st October 2026 during the commissioning of three development projects executed by the Bassa Local Government Council in Plateau State,Central Nigeria.

The projects are a newly constructed primary healthcare centre in Chinye, Miango; a rural electrification project in Zanwra, Miango; and the Bassa Local Government Council Secretariat Complex.

The projects are aimed at improving access to healthcare, expanding electricity access in rural communities and strengthening the council’s administrative capacity.

The commissioning ceremony brought together traditional rulers, councillors, political appointees, community leaders and other stakeholders in the local government.

The primary healthcare centre in Chinye is expected to bring essential medical services closer to residents of the community and neighbouring settlements, particularly women, children, older persons and other vulnerable groups.

The facility is also expected to support preventive healthcare and improve access to basic medical attention for residents who may otherwise have to travel longer distances to obtain healthcare services.

In Zanwra, Miango, the rural electrification project is expected to improve electricity access, support small businesses and create better conditions for economic activities and community development.

The project is also expected to benefit households and other local establishments by providing electricity that can support daily activities, education and essential services.

The third project, the Bassa Local Government Council Secretariat Complex, is designed to provide a more conducive working environment for council officials and improve the coordination of administrative activities.

The facility is expected to strengthen the council’s capacity to implement programmes, coordinate departments and deliver public services to residents.

The three projects represent investments in healthcare, electricity and public administration, sectors considered essential to improving living conditions and strengthening grassroots governance.

Speaking to journalists, Riti thanked God for the opportunity to witness the occasion and expressed appreciation to the Plateau State Government under the leadership of his Excellency Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for its continued support to Bassa Local Government Area.

He assured the state government of the continued support of the people of Bassa, pledging that they would give the administration their maximum support to enable it to complete the good work it had started.

Riti also identified infrastructure development and improved service delivery as key priorities to his administration.

Residents of the benefiting communities expressed appreciation for the projects, describing them as important interventions capable of addressing local needs and creating opportunities for development.

The visit by Honourable Ephraim Gar also highlighted the relationship between the state and local governments in advancing infrastructure development and improving service delivery at the grassroots.

The commissioning marks another development milestone for Bassa Local Government Area as the council seeks to expand access to essential services and improve public infrastructure.
