Justice Delayed Is Justice Denied: Rights Group Demands Delta Government End Silence,Suspends Obi Of Otolokpo Over Alleged Domestic Violence

By Palang Paul

The Young Nigerian Rights Organization has issued a damning indictment of the Delta State Government over its alleged silence regarding a domestic violence accusation against a prominent traditional ruler, warning that “justice delayed is justice denied.”

In an open letter signed by Comrade Victor Ojei, popularly known as Wong Box Nigeria, the organization demanded immediate action following an incident reportedly involving the Obi of Otolokpo in Ika North East Local Government Area on February 23, 2026.

“Domestic violence is a serious violation of human rights and must never be ignored, especially when the allegations involve individuals in positions of authority,” the statement read.

The rights group drew sharp contrasts with Cross River State, where authorities moved swiftly against suspended lawmaker Mr. Ovat Dickson following similar allegations.

“Such decisive action shows that no one should be above the law. Sadly, the response in Delta State has been the opposite—silence and inaction,” the organization noted.

The group issued four urgent demands to the state government:

Immediate suspension of the Obi of Otolokpo pending thorough police investigation

Transparent handling of the matter by law enforcement agenciesA public address to citizens assuring justice will prevail

A public address to citizens assuring justice will prevail

Equal application of justice regardless of traditional or political status

“Traditional authority, political power, or social status must not be used to SHIELD anyone from ACCOUNTABILITY,” the statement emphasized.

As of press time, the Delta State Government was yet to respond to the allegations or the organization’s demands, a silence the rights group warns could undermine public confidence in the state’s justice system.

The Otolokpo incident allegedly occurred on February 23, 2026, with no official statement issued by authorities in the intervening weeks.
