In a scathing resignation letter, the grassroots mobilizer declares the struggle continues, stating “No party owns our conscience.

Prominent Nigerian youth activist and grassroot mobilizer in Delta State, Comrade Victor Ojei, popularly known as Wong Box Nigeria, has officially resigned his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
His resignation, effective immediately, was declared in a strongly-worded letter addressed to the Ward 5 Chairman in Ubulu-uku, Aniocha South Local Government Area, and copied to the State Party Chairman, Professor Sylvester Monye, and the media.
Ojei, who styles himself as the “Voice of the People of Delta State and Nigeria at large,” stated that his decision was made “with a heavy heart but a clear conscience” after deep reflection and consultations.
The letter outlined a profound disillusionment with the party’s current trajectory. Ojei accused the PDP of abandoning its founding ideals, creating a “widening gap” between its principles and its practices.
He cited the weakening of internal democracy, the discouragement of genuine dissent, and the sacrifice of grassroots aspirations for “elite interests” as key reasons for his exit.
“My loyalty has always been to the people, not to comfort, not to silence, and not to political convenience,” Ojei wrote. “I cannot, in good conscience, continue to belong to a system that no longer aligns with my principles, my ACTIVISM, and my unwavering COMMITMENT to SOCIAL JUSTICE and ACCOUNTABILITY.”
The activist framed his resignation not as an act of “bitterness” or “betrayal,” but one of “conviction” and “truth.” He emphatically stated that this move marks “the BEGINNING OF a NEW CHAPTER” in his struggle.
In a defiant conclusion, Ojei reaffirmed his allegiance to the streets and the oppressed, declaring: “NO PARTY owns our CONSCIENCE. No STRUCTURE is BIGGER than the PEOPLE. History will always REMEMBER those WHO CHOSE COURAGE over COMFORT.”
He ended the letter with a note of anticipation, writing, “As I take this step, I AM WAITING FOR FURTHER INSTRUCTION FROM ABOVE. GUIDED by CONSCIENCE, DESTINY, and the COLLECTIVE WILL of the PEOPLE,” before signing off with the common activist slogan, “Aluta Continua. Victory is certain.”
As of the time of this report, the leadership of the PDP in Delta State has not issued an official reaction to the resignation. Political observers are watching closely to see if this move will inspire similar departures from other disaffected members within the party’s grassroots base.
