Kaduna, Nigeria – May 27, 2025 — The Igbo Community in Kaduna has formally recognized and honoured the Founder and Pro-Chancellor of Greenfield University, High Chief Engr. Simon Nwakacha, for his exceptional humanitarian contributions, particularly in the area of educational support for underprivileged youths.

During a special visit to the Greenfield University campus on Tuesday, May 26, 2025, the President General of the Igbo Community in Kaduna, Chief Francis Uchenna, led a high-powered delegation to express their gratitude for the scholarships awarded to nine indigent Igbo students. These scholarships provide full tuition and access to one of Nigeria’s most reputable higher education institutions.

“Today, we are here on behalf of the entire Igbo Community in Kaduna to extend our heartfelt appreciation to High Chief Nwakacha for his benevolence,” Uchenna said during the visit. “Offering nine of our sons and daughters a chance to study at Greenfield University is an act of kindness we do not take for granted.”

Chief Uchenna emphasized that the gesture goes beyond mere charity, noting that it represents an investment in the future of the community and the country. He praised the Pro-Chancellor for his vision and unwavering support for the less privileged, regardless of their ethnic or regional background.

Also speaking, the Secretary-General of the Igbo Community, Sir Vincent Anagwonye, highlighted Chief Nwakacha’s commitment to unity and national development.

“High Chief Nwakacha is a true Nigerian patriot and a man with a heart for all,” Anagwonye said. “He could have restricted his support to his hometown, but instead, he chose to build a world-class institution here in Kaduna, opening its doors to all Nigerians, irrespective of tribe or religion. That speaks volumes about his character.”

Anagwonye added, “His actions reflect the kind of leadership Nigeria needs—visionary, inclusive, and compassionate. We are proud to honour him.”

Responding to the commendations, High Chief Simon Nwakacha said the scholarships are part of his broader mission to make quality education accessible to all.

“Education is the most powerful tool for lifting people out of poverty,” Nwakacha said. “Over the years, I have awarded scholarships to students from across Nigeria. Just last year, thirty students from a northern community benefited from a similar initiative.”

He reaffirmed his resolve to continue expanding access to education: “As long as I am able, I will keep supporting deserving students. Every Nigerian child deserves a shot at a better future, and education is the key.”

The recognition by the Igbo Community in Kaduna marks another milestone in Chief Nwakacha’s lifelong commitment to philanthropy, national unity, and human capital development. His work continues to inspire admiration and serves as a reminder of the impact one individual can make when guided by empathy and a deep sense of purpose.
